Services

Carpentry, and the building work around it.

If it's timber, or it's fixed to timber, it's probably my job. Find yours below, or just call and describe it.

Renovations & extensions

Kitchens, bathrooms, walls moved, rooms added. I've taken a house three-quarters eaten by termites back to square - new trusses, whole roof, internal walls, kitchen and laundry.

I can organise and coordinate other trades too - plumber, electrician, tiler

Decks

Hardwood decks set out to sit flat and stay flat. Mitred picture-frame borders, hidden fixings, board gaps that line up end to end.

Pergolas & carports

Roofed, clad and squared up to the house. Awkward shapes are usually the interesting part - I've built into a triangular frontage and made it look deliberate.

Doors & windows

New openings cut and framed, old units replaced, doors that actually close. A consistent reveal the whole way round is the hard part, and the part people notice.

Roofing & external repairs

Colorbond and metal roof repairs, fascia, barge boards, storm damage. The work that stops small water problems becoming expensive ones.

Stairs & access ramps

External timber stairs and access ramps built to code - for when getting in and out of the house matters more than anything else on the list.

Repairs & maintenance

Skirting and architraves, rotten fascia, a gate that drops, a door that sticks all summer. If it's an hour's work, say so.

The difference

The details that take the longest.

Anyone can screw down decking boards. The difference shows up in the parts people notice without knowing why - the gaps that stay even, the rafter ends that all match, the door that shuts the same in February as it does in July.

  • Set out and measured twice before anything is cut
  • Hidden fixings and clean edges where they should be
  • Timber chosen for the job and the weather it will live in

How I quote

Three steps, no sales pitch.

You should know exactly what happens if you contact me. This is all of it.

  1. 1

    Call or text me

Ring 0402 683 188, or text a photo of the job. A photo tells me more in two seconds than a paragraph does.

  2. 2

    I measure it myself

Not a salesperson, not an estimator - me. I'll tell you what I'd do, and flag anything likely to cost more than you're expecting before it does.

  3. 3

    You get it in writing

A written, fixed-price quote. Free, no obligation. If we agree a budget at the start, I work to it.

Reviews

What customers actually said.

“I had ¾ of my house eaten by termites and basically need to rebuild the whole house. […] Dan has all the connections with trades which makes organising a lot more efficient. I was afraid the job would blow out on cost but at the beginning Dan and I set out a budget and we stuck to it.”

Chris T

“An honest professional who turned up when he said he would and did the job with minimal fuss. He took over from an existing job and did everything seamlessly.”

Nicole Merewether

“Dan at Nordic did a great job from quote to finish. A fair price, prompt follow up and great workmanship throughout.”

Shayne H Cardiff

“Dan did a wonderful job on the roofing and cladding of the pergola at the front of my home. The job was a bit complicated due to is triangular shape however he was able to address this with professionalism.”

Tullie E Mayfield West

“Dan is so easy to work with and his skills are excellent.”

About

Who you're actually dealing with.

I'm Dan Koinberg. I was born in Sweden and I've been building here in the Hunter for years. My wife is Australian, our sons are growing up here, and this is home. I'm not going anywhere, so the work I do around here is work I'll still be standing behind in twenty years.

In Sweden I'd be a snickare. Here I'm a carpenter. Same job, better weather.

There's a Swedish phrase I grew up with - ordning och reda. Order and tidiness; things done properly, in the right order. On a site that isn't a philosophy, it's practical: I sweep up at the end of the day, I don't leave your yard as a worksite, and I tell you before I cut anything.

The rest is just carpentry. Set it out properly, measure it twice, and the finish takes care of itself.
